Beretta 92 Elite LTT
For the past 19 years, I was akin to a striker-fired pistol junkie, always searching for the perfect pistol to satisfy my fix on the perfect trigger. There is no perfect pistol, yet, this pistol with the LTT trigger job has not only satisfied the “fix” it has cured me of needing to search for that perfect pistol. Ernest Langdon and Beretta have created and orchestrated a masterpiece. On the firing line, it was like conducting the perfect symphony. Now, I know nothing about conducting an orchestra; however, I do know what it means to be satisfied. I was left completely satisfied yet longing to enjoy more. Aesthetics: This is a legendary pistol with a rich heritage! I would describe this pistol as striking, stunning and well-formed. The stainless-steel barrel and trigger enhance the beauty of this fine instrument. Is it perfect? No; at least cosmetically speaking. It’s a Beretta. The finish on the slide cocking serrations on my pistol could certainly be better, but oddly enough, these imperfections seem to compliment the gun. Trigger: The LTT trigger package is the star of this pistol. Describing the trigger as buttery smooth seems cliché, yet appropriate… and… inadequate at the same time. Until you personally experience how consistently smooth the DA trigger pull is through the trigger break, you will never understand just how good it is. While the single action trigger is phenomenal, the double action trigger pull is just as fast and better than the triggers of most striker fired guns. I liked it so much, I spent most of my time on the firing line shooting DA only. Even after firing the gun I continue to be in awe of how good it is! Grips: Having fired previous versions of the Beretta M9 in the military, I was concerned with the potentially thick grip. Getting a solid, high purchase and appropriate grip is essential to firing any gun well. My fears were alleviated. The ultra-thin VZ/LTT G10 grips are excellent for even smaller hands. Sights: I opted for the Ameriglo Spartan sights. I have these on my other pistols, so I’m very familiar with them. With my “older” eyes, I seem to acquire the target much quicker with these sights compared to fiber optic sights. There is so much more to say about this gun. Listen, here’s the bottom line: this gun doesn’t want to be hidden in a safe, or, in my opinion, simply displayed in a case. Like an antique Stradivarius violin, it wants to be played; its real beauty is in its performance. The LTT trigger package, grip, and target crown barrel makes this gun a solid shooter and very accurate. This pistol created an “Aha” moment for me, and has inspired me to re-think my philosophy of the DA/SA platform.
