This fit perfectly with my setup - not loose or anything like that - super simple install.
Overall fit and finish was good, and I especially liked the agressive look. I did, however, have an issue with the steel mounting tabs not lining up correctly with the drilled holes from the template. The holes were mis-aligned by about .100 thousandths. Being a retired machinist, I simply milled the difference off the tabs so they dropped further down the slots to align the brackets with the holes in the foregrip. This could be an issue for someone without the proper tooling, so be warned.
Ordered and it shipped within a day. Got the item and it came with things to aid in installation I did not expect. Came with drill bit, and torx bit for the provided screws which was a great help. the hole guide did its job just as it should (another added amenity that was appreciated) Watched the YouTube install video and was careful to make sure it was installed correctly with no gaps. Fits perfectly and looks good. There are two areas that concern me though. after install I noticed the middle flexes a bit. I checked the front clips and it was seated correctly and thus installed correctly so I attribute this to the middle section just more flexible than the ends. I would hope that in the future LTT would think about reinforcing the middle if they end up making a gen 2 of this. I used some goon tape on the center and now the flex is gone. Not a deal breaker with the flex, but I can see this to be a weak point in the future of moderate to hard use. Still though with this being cheaper than the aluminum handguards out there, this is a breeze to install and looks great. The added items to help the install are a nice touch too. The only other concern is price. I think its a bit high, BUT given the ease of installation and the lack of options around this price point coupled with the fact it fits with the original mod2 fore end it is acceptable to pay as much. If I buy another 1301 or end up buying an a300 I would buy another one of these. I personally cant see myself spending a couple hundred on an aluminum handguard that doesn't cover the top like this does. All in all I think this is a great thought out product that is a good addition to my weapon.
I had very high hopes and expectations for this, and rightfully so given the price point. The shotgun itself is good. So is the trigger job. The labyrinth heat shield is a great concept and is a valuable option to add. It does a great job of managing your light and laser wires. I'm using a surefire scout light with arisaka inline mount to make it flush with the barrel. I did have to extend the springs in the tapeswitch cap to make it run. The problem is, the light switch mount. I made sure I ordered the correct one after the disaster I had with it. It does not fit the switch, so I modified it. The mount, while it does easily attach to the heat shield, it also comes off under recoil. I had to place it back on after every 5 to 10 shots. Accuracy? I got mixed results from different ammo. 1.25" groups with Winchester defender rifled slugs, 1600 fps at 50 yards, and as wide as 4" from federal truball law enforcement slugs. This was shooting prone with a bipod using a Trijicon RCR red dot. Using buckshot is where the trigger really comes through. It felt like I was shooting like a 9mm carbine. With the federal truball law enforcement slugs, it was like shooting a 308, and the Winchester defender was like shooting a 30-06 bolt action. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase, but will continue to make modifications for my use.
Looks great. Main dislike is how flimsy it is. As another reviewer says it bows in the middle and able to move/pull it up. Disappointed. In opinion it’s not worth the money.
Overall adds great visuals to the gun, the cable management is great and the mount plate for the stream light pressure pad is a nice touch. The fit could be better, the screw tightened fine but the middle of the heat shield has a slight bow. Visually most people may not notice, but with the price point I expected it to be slightly cleaner. Overall I’m happy with how it looks and the light pad plates are worth it and it keeps the wires out of the way.
The product I received is a 3D printing. I did not see that in the description and probably wouldn’t have bought it had I known. Additive tech is for prototyping in my opinion, not for production components. Especially when not disclosed as a 3D printing. $105 is too much for this.
Great heat shield and worth money. I am very glad after installing on my gun. Great invention, thank you.
The premise of the product is sound but the execution needs polishing. Install was easy but the fit and finish missed the mark. Even with propper alignment and torquing of the 2 screws my heat shield bows/flexes in the middle. Before I'm attacked, this isn't the first time I've used a drill or modified a gun. Also the price felt rather high for what is essentially a 3d printed item. But other than that it works as expected and did keep the heat off my hands at the range. Overall I would give this a 7/10.
